Hosting Infrastructure
Hosting infrastructure of NIC includes strategic storage,
known as Storage Area Network (SAN), in National level Internet Data Centre (IDC) at
NIC(HQ) as well as State level IDC at Madhya Pradesh State Centre
that facilitates high availability (24x7x365), quick scalability, efficient management
& optimized utilization of resources, with connection to Internet on very high
bandwidth. The SAN is a high-speed special-purpose network that
interconnects different data storage devices with associated Servers and a part of the
overall network of computing resources, which support disk mirroring, backup, restore,
archival & retrieval of archived data, data migration from one storage device to
another and the sharing of data among different Servers in the Network. These
state-of-the-art web servers are powered by various Operating System platforms like
Windows, Linux, etc.

As hosting infrastructure of NIC is secured, it is mandatory
that all websites/web-enabled applications hosted on NIC servers must be audited for
content security and obtain audit clearance Certificate, before its release. The
list of empanelled IT Security Auditors is available on the website of Indian Computer
Emergency Response Team (CERT-IN) at URL www.cert-in.org.in. As a part of this security audit, the procedure/programs
used inside the concerned website/application & database are checked for any security
vulnerabilities. To ensure utmost security, no website can be hosted on the NIC web
servers without undergoing the mandatory IT Security Audit.
Internet Dissemination of Results
NIC has been successfully publishing various examination
results on the Internet for many years now. The Results Portal of NIC Madhya Pradesh www.mpresults.nic.in is a one-stop source to get online
results of various Academic, Entrance and Recruitment examinations conducted by Board of
Secondary Education, Professional Examination Board (VYAPAM), District Boards, Barkatullah
University, Railway Recruitment Board, etc. The portal has become a household name with
the students, parents and teachers, who are generally keen to check the results. The
portal also publishes Examination Schedules, Details of Admit Cards,
printing of Mark Sheets, Re-evaluation Forms, etc.
The portal also features important
announcements; both prior to the declaration of the result and upon its launch on the
Internet, besides automatic display (linking) of related announcements & results on
the website of the concerned Board/University, therefore the response to the portal from
the users is overwhelming. A number of servers at National IDC have been set-up
exclusively for publishing the results. The technology of content switching has been used
to ensure effective Load Balancing to cater to peak traffic on the servers, whereas the
Staging servers enable the NIC State Centres to upload and verify the results data before
its final publication on Internet.

As per Internet Domain Name Policy, NIC is the
exclusive registrar for GOV.IN country level Domains, which is reserved for registration
of 3rd & 4th level domain names for all Government
